🌺 Why I Chose ASA
I had always dreamed of working in a healing profession. Once my children were older and I finally had time, I started looking for massage training. That was when Balinese massage caught my eye. The more I researched, the more I fell in love with it, and I decided that instead of studying in Japan, I wanted to go straight to Bali and learn while feeling the real Balinese atmosphere.
Among many schools, I chose ASA because the Japan office staff were very kind and reassuring, the school is connected to the hotel, there is a Japanese interpreter, and I felt I could study in a safe and comfortable environment at Abian Spa Aesthetic.
📚 About the School & Lessons
I joined the 6 nights / 8 days Traditional Course. I had zero massage experience and no background at all, and I honestly went to Bali without doing any preparation in Japan. The reality was tougher than I expected, and at first I was quite shocked.
But thanks to my warm, encouraging teacher and the practice models I met there, I told myself, “I’m going to bring this technique back to Fukushima!” I took lessons from 9:00 to 15:00 every day and added self-practice on top of that, and in the end I passed the exam.
During class, relaxing music was always playing, and my teacher often reminded me to “relax.” Those words really helped me stay calm and focused while I was learning.
🏨 About the Hotel
Abian Harmony Hotel was full of hospitality in every detail. I was so impressed by the towel art in my room, and even when I was waking up at 3:00 a.m. every day to review, the room was always perfectly clean and tidy.
The reception staff were all so lovely and stylish that my own “girl power” felt upgraded during my stay in Bali. The food was delicious, and choosing my breakfast and lunch each day became part of the fun. Even though I normally have trouble falling asleep, I slept deeply there thanks to the comfortable environment.
🌈 Overall Impression
It was my first time studying abroad and my first time learning Balinese massage, so everything was new to me. But it became a priceless experience where I could push past my limits and really feel my own growth.
In October 2024, after returning home, I was able to open my dream Balinese spa, “Velle Spa Shizu,” in Fukushima Prefecture. I’m truly grateful to everyone who supported me along the way.
✈️ Message for Future Students
It’s natural to feel nervous, but there is even more joy and excitement waiting for you. I had no prior massage experience at all, and I was still able to get through it. With translation apps available, you don’t have to worry too much about the language either.
Sanur in Bali is calm, safe, and very comfortable. I honestly didn’t want to go home. Please take the step and open your own door to a new future in Bali.
